Thank you all for the advice, I will just hang it from top of fence and line up the pots underneath as I don’t have anywhere sheltered, I will leave the sides open. Going to buy delphinium and Lupin and wait until spring for others.
I don't want to sound -ve but that type of domestic packaging plastic (esp. If just hung off a fence) will get ripped to shreds in a gale, unless you were going to make a batten frame to hold it in place. Not sure of your budget but if you can beg, borrow or make a small cold frame that would be ideal. Or how about just some DIY cloches?
Another not totally stupid idea, assuming you're not buying huge numbers of plants is to invest in some clear plastic storage boxes. Ideally under-bed height for seedlings. If weather is ok take the lid off, lid on for heavy rain & if its cold overnight pick up whole box, bring inside, stack in kitchen. I have done this, a bit faffy but do-able for a small collection
An old window from a skip or beg from a neighbour who’s having building work done … place it on a few bricks and pop the pots underneath …, if you’ve got old bricks for the sides that’s good but not imperative… it’s shelter and keeping the rain off while keeping them ventilated that’s important.
