Hi
We started to notice this in our garden a couple of years ago. Just noticed today how badly established it is. Couple of large patches and loads of little patches.
I have been trying to find a match online to identify it, but I am struggling.
The best I can describe it is that it is similar to ivy in that it has tough, thick long stems that seem to snake through the grass and the roots seem well embedded. The leaves are heart /oval shaped and seem waxy. They also have small white hairs on the leaf.
Can anyone identify and suggest how to deal with it whilst not killing my lawn?
Edit: Also, it doesn't grow upwards as such, can't recall if it flowers and just seems to grow along the ground.
regards
Paul

Looks like Ajuga or prunella vulgaris can't quite make my mind up  have you noticed any flowers on it ? Either can be treated the same either hand weed it out with a hand fork or a table fork if you're really keen or use a selective weedkiller it will say on the bottle Lawn weed killer it will not kill the grass.
  • Hi and thanks.
I don’t recall any flowers on it and thinking about it now it gets mown down every time I cut the grass. So maybe it would grow upwards if I gave it a chance.
I’ll take your advice and treat it as soon as I can.
    Thanks again
