What can I do with my overgrown Rhubarb

Hi we recently moved into a house and the garden was obviously cared for but has had a few years where it has been let go. there is a massive Rhubarb which is bursting through the patio and I want to move it but I also don't want quite so much. The root (rhizome?) is about 2ft across . what I would like to know is ,
Can I split it and give bits away ? if so when
Will it survive a move now if I make sure its mulched over ?

I'm in central Scotland,I would say we would expect a cold winter but hey who knows right now

Thanks

Richard

Yes, lift and divide during the winter when it’s dormant.

I would discard the old central bit and keep a choice division for yourself.

Best not to harvest any from the newly divided crowns in the year following planting, to give it a chance to get established.

    Good luck with it 😊

NB to self, ours needs doing too! 🙄
