They're an invasive species on some of our islands up here too @tintaelsaZ_XCVKHe because they have no natural predators and damage the existing wildlife there - mainly ground nesting birds. Otherwise, and as this is a predominantly UK based forum, you'll find most people will absolutely defend hedgehogs and will want to do anything they can to protect and help them, as they're in decline in many areas.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Hedgehogs are pests here in NZ , no predators to eat them
I would hope there are relocation programmes in Scotland and NZ - given how much they are needed in other places. It's so important on islands to stick with native animals.
There was a controversial scheme to cull hedgehogs on the Usits in the Western Isles of Scotland some years ago @Fire. After an outcry this was changed to catching and relocating them to mainland Scotland, which if memory serves me right wasn't quite as easy as it may appear.
