Probably not worth a long trip just for this (I'm not sure where you are) but a really good day could be made by also taking in the Science And Industry Museum and the John Rylands Library, both within easy walking distance of the viaduct and both free entry.
Thanks for that 🙂 I've actually been to both of those (am a former librarian so gravitate to libraries wherever I am, and OHs relatives feature in the museum so we had to go there too!). Maybe on my way to Southport, and via RHS Bridgewater... one day!

The signs around used to say "Please enjoy this private estate considerately." They were able to remove protesters from the spaces as it was privately owned.
I'm not sure what difference this makes to access? Its still classed as Public Realm...unless you're planning on staging a disruptive demonstration up there rather than enjoying the space and its amenities.
