What’s going on with my camellia leaves?

Help! One of the smaller camellia leaves turns like this, anyone know what is going on?

thanks

  • It looks like the start of chlorosis. This means your soil is not acidic enough to grow camellias happily. You could try watering with azalea food and forking ericaceous compost around the base of the plant but this will need to be continued throughout the plant's life. Unfortunately, it will eventually die.

I have Camellia on clay soil, and had a similar problems a few years ago.  I mulched it with ericaceous compost, fed it with Azalea feed and watered it thoroughly for a few months.  It recovered and now i just feed it in the spring, mulch it with ericaceous compost each spring and it seems to be very happy, with shiny leaves and flowers well from january to May.
