The books say to give the potted seedlings a feed to help them develop a good root system. Plant out when the roots come through the bottom of the pots.
Ah, if you have slugs which attack your Hellebores then that is another thing! They don't do anything much to mine. Other stuff gets reduced to nothing but the Hellebores are fine.

@Fire I planted a tiny 2-leaved seedling in a pot, it flowered only in its third year.
I have mine in pots too and I find that the seeds germinate even between the flagstones when they fall on the patio or on the ground. They don't seem too fussy and always take about three years to bloom.
