Princess Alexandra of Kent

I have a single PAOK Rose in a flower bed to TBH after 2 years its struggling, even after a good prune last year. I suspect its a bit overcrowded with competition from surrounding plants. I am thinking of moving it into a rather large terracotta pot and placing it on the Patio. Now, from what I've read, Roses can be moved October to Jan/Feb. Am I being a bit too impatient to do this next week, as we are having a warm spell. Should I wait until its really cold, or go ahead? It means in Winter the ground is harder so I am likely to cause more root damage. Any thoughts?

I would wait until the rose goes dormant in winter. It won't matter if some fine roots are damaged during removal but it's better for the rose to be moved when it's 'asleep' as it won't even notice.

Good idea to move it into a pot, it might well do better. I'm thinking the same with two of my weedy roses.

Yes, this rose is looking weedy too. I guess yet another prune is needed. They never look like they do in the DA catalogue! LOL
