Malva Alba rust
Afternoon! 😎
I've grown Malva Alba plants for years and never had a problem with them, but this autumn the leaves are very badly affected by rust. There are some self-seeded Hollyhocks near my garden and these are also badly affected, so I'm wondering if the disease has spread on the breeze. (It is always breezy here in the afternoon.) Anyway, however they acquired it, they now have it.

I've removed all the damaged leaves. Should I take the plants out altogether and start again next yr with seed I collected in the summer or might the current plants be OK? I have them dotted all over the garden as I let them come up where they please, so I'd rather leave them in if there is hope they will come back healthy.

I'm not sure what your best plan of action is as I don't grow either, but a copper-based fungicide may well help.
