What are these?

I've been given some seed pods from a bush that has since been removed, but I have no idea what they are. Can anyone help?

    Hi and welcome.
Do you know anything about the plant from which they came, such as flower colour and size of plant?

    Yep, I agree. Tree paeony.
  • Yes ours does this every year. We end up with many seedlings growing in the lawn. Most are mowed over (when we do mow!) but others are dug up and planted up and when big enough we give them away.

Are these easy enough to grow on Bertrand M?

I potted up some seedlings last year and they've remained as a single leaf sticking out of the pot for over 12months now...I'm definitely doing something wrong.

Wow, my son has a tree paeony in his garden, I’m very jealous. I must ask him to look out for some seed pods for me.
  • @McRazz We have always found them to be easy to grow on. Ours is lutea. We make sure to dig down to get the young roots in tact. Maybe you have not gone down enough?
We usually dig them up when there are 2 leaves on the seedling.
