Cypress Tree

Hi All
I have a couple of Cypress trees I planted a few years back. Last year I noticed there were a few cone shaped (things - forgive my complete gardening ignorance) anyway this year there seems to be a whole lot more to the extent that there weighing the branches down and mis-shaping the cypress look. I've tied the bigger branches back to the main body with string but they still look wrong.
So, I'm thinking about snipping the cones off!! Is this OK or should I leave them on?

You could remove the cones if you don't like them. It's just the trees' way of reproducing. No different from dead-heading.
