    Hi @B3,

Same here in Scotland. Our bees are all over it ..... almost sounds like a swarm.
The pollen and nectar will set them up nicely for winter. The red admirals like it too.

It's such a great plant ... so a shame it gets a bit of a bad press.

Certainly keeping the Red Admirals happy down here, too. Isn’t that the flower with the rather unpleasant smell though?

Never noticed a smell. Are you thinking of privet? I like the smell but many don't @Ergates

  • My Ivy is also blossoming well but it was pretty prolific last year too so can't say I've noticed that much difference.  Keeping everyone happy tho  ;)

Mine is flowering, and the only difference is that it's a bit earlier than usual. It always does well round here though.
Mahonia's out too, which is a bit earlier than usual, but it's been very, very mild.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

The tree ivy I've got has been smothered in red admirals,  it smells of honey. At night it has  wood lice on the flowers. I was hoping for moths.

I'm going to need to have a really good sniff now. But I've been trimming the non flowering shoots and haven't noticed the slightest whiff of anything.

  • I could smell it more a few days ago. Seen bees but not butterflies on it.  Last year, flowering was more prolific

  • Same down here in Cornwall. There are several large trees of ivy around where I live  and all are full of flowers at the moment.
  • I was wondering what the blackbirds might be pecking at. Maybe the flowers or buds?
