  • I had done a test patch with green chicken wire and bark mulch on top, not signs of disturbance after a few days, whereas the others were dug up immediately

    I often cover small bulbs with mesh or similar,  especially if I want other planting in with the bulbs. Easier in pots though. I have to accept they'll have a go at them and I'll lose some. Planting deeper always helps. 
    I don't find the snowdrops get dug up by them, but they do have a go at the crocus and species tulips. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
