Looking for Lady Emma Hamilton

I've searched high and low on the internet, it seems to be out of stock everywhere.  I'm also looking for the Shropshire Lad and Janet.  If anyone reading this as rooted cuttings I'm quite happy to pay for one.

Thank you!

All have been discontinued by DA unfortunately.

Trevor White Roses have just begun to offer Janet this year, though- out of stock on their website but worth ringing them to see if they have extra, as they don't put everything on the site straightaway.

There is a rose called Dear Janet available if it's the name you are after rather than the actual rose itself (not sure if it's the same one). Not available just yet but will be soon.

I have bought named roses from this company before and they are very healthy.

Worth waiting for one from this excellent and legitimate rose grower IMO.

He may have A Shropshire Lad next year. Will not have Lady Emma Hamilton in the near future as that will be under "patent" till 2032 or so. But OP could try ordering thst from Europe..m pretty hard to get now though

Are those particular varieties absolute must-haves? As DA have discontinued them, they probably have newer varieties that are similar but better.

It's amazing how things change in such a short time. When my wife bought her LEH 2 years ago the garden centre (Notcutts nr. Manchester) had so many it took her ages to select her individual plant. I've just checked on their website and, whilst they have several DA roses, LEH is no longer listed.

It's a shame Lady Emma was cut. She made many "top roses" lists, just like Munstead Wood.

Nothing on the market equals Lady Em imo - fragrance especially - although there are some similar looking roses. I think all remainder stocks have already been pretty well hoovered up worldwide and if you come across one now it’s highly likely to be illegally propagated. No one can legally sell you a cutting of an in-patent rose either, although private arrangements between friends are highly unlikely to end up in court!

Whereabouts are you based @sysy0509747? I could help you with some potential sources in the EU of ASL and Janet if that’s where you are based.

Nurseries and retailers are prohibited by license to export DA roses to the UK from the EU. There are also issues/potential extra costs for the now required phytosanitary certificate even if they were allowed. There are one or two that conveniently ‘forget’ all those rules though and the odd batch of DA roses does make it’s way to the UK.
