I've got a new bud on my oriental poppy and new flowers on a white Caltha. Never seen either do that before.
Rest of the garden looks suitably autumnal though. I cut back the Darmera yesterday as the gales had speeded up the tatty look. The dahlias, with a few honourable exceptions have been rubbish this year. Too cold to plant, too dry to plant, too wet and then too windy. Will salvage what I can!
My crab apple is in spring bloom, alongside a few shrivelled fruits from the first flowering still hanging on. I have a fair number of plants behaving unseasonably due to heat stress. The foliage fried and died on many shrubs and perennials after two short but severe heatwaves, then they leafed up and started flowering again.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
I have some ammi just starting to flower, but long succession flowering might be more normal for ammi. I have not grown it before.
My Rosa Crimson Glory is in full flush - covered in blooms - enjoying all the rain and warmth. Possibly the best it has been all year. Unusual for Oct, but my roses will bloom anytime given enough sun and lots of rain. None of the roses (about 40 of them) look like they are headed towards dormancy, not winding down any time soon. Lots of buds and new leaf everywhere. If London Oct switches suddenly from heat to frost (as it can) the plants will get hit.
