Peony Tubers

Hello All,
I have been given some pony tubers a friend no longer wanted in their garden in June. She said to store them in a paper bag in a cool place until autumn which I have done. all I know is that they’re red…. Can I put these into pots? Ir do you think they’re not worth saving?

I think you were badly advised. The less time any plant is out of the ground the more likely its chances of survival

Yeah not the best advice. Nevertheless I would get it planted now, and I bet you it will produce shoots next spring. Very tough plants, peonies. Don't plant too deeply, just below the surface.

If it's the old-fashioned red Peony (P. officinalis) you might be in luck - that one's certainly tough and long-lived. Plant them and see. Put them in shallowly and horizontal.
