What insect is this on my conifer?

Whatever it is, is it a bad thing for my conifer?

It’s a daddy long legs . Don’t say you’ve never seen one of those ? Harmless but a bit annoying.

Not entirely harmless - the grubs/larvae are a problem in many areas due to their grazing on grass roots. However, it's only people who are overly fussy about their lawns who get their pants in a knot when crows etc dig them out! I just see them as good bird food, as already said.
We don't get too bothered by them in lawns. Many don't make it through winter.
    Common everywhere though.

I don't like daddy long legs either. It's completely irrational and funnily enough I don't mind spiders, even the spindly leggy ones that look a bit similar. I think it's the fluttering. Fortunately one of our cats tries to catch any that come in the house, and usually succeeds (my hero!).

It definitely won't harm your conifer.   :)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
