Griselinia dead patches

My well established griselinia got hit hard last winter but is now growing well apart from 2 areas that look completely dead and unsightly. Want to cut these away but concerned it may be a bit late in the year to do it now 
Any thoughts on this?

    If you can post a photo, that will help.  Also an indication of your soil type and roughly where you are in the UK.
