Maybe you should acknowledge that Europeans invaded a country and stole the land and resources from the indigenous population and treated them, and still treat them , appallingly.
What about the bombs dumped on Cambodia and Laos during your war in Vietman? Are you going to pay to clear them up and pay them reparations? It's pretty hard to find a war which the usa hasn't stuck it's nose into, especially where there's oil.
More tons of bombs were dropped on Laos and Cambodia during the Vietnam war than were dropped on the whole of Europe during WW2. Neither country were even involved in that war.
Hostafan1 you brits were given 70+ years to pay it back at very low interest rate. most expect if lend someone money they pay it back. we are not talking about lending your mate a few quid. counting both money and equipment the US lend lease gave you brits several billion in loans. whether you count it in pounds or dollars.
I have no problem with Britain repaying the loan with interest, it's perfectly reasonable, but let's not pretend that the US did it out of the goodness of its heart to help out a "friend". It did it because a financially stable Britain was more useful than a bankrupt one. Had it been in the US's interests, it'd have been quite content to let Britain go under. I had hoped that once it was repaid the UK Government would grow a spine but unfortunately not.
those wars were not illegal and you brits sent troops too.
I used to live in a military town and had a friend who worked for the MoD. I thought the stuff I got told was BS because Britain and the US were the "good guys". We don't sit around tables planning wars. When the events started to unfold a couple of years later, I was gutted. Apparently we do sit around tables planning wars, or at least our governments do.
The British Government sent those troops, you'd be pretty hard-pressed to find a Brit who was in favour of it.
But most of us don’t think about air pollution when we’re mowing our
yards or shopping for new lawn and garden tools. Did you know that
lawnmowers, leaf blowers, trimmers, and other gasoline-powered lawn
equipment produce a lot of air pollution? According to the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA), gas-powered lawnmowers account for five
percent of the air pollution in the United States and contribute even
more pollution in urban areas. Five percent!
That number starts to make sense when you look at the statistics:
Each weekend, about 54 million Americans mow their lawns, amounting to 800 million gallons of gas per year.
The emissions from one four-stroke lawnmower operating for one hour are equivalent to an average vehicle travelling 500 miles.
Using a gas-powered mower for one hour produces the same amount of emissions as 11 new cars also running for an hour.
At least 17 million gallons of gasoline are spilled annually just filling these lawnmowers.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
