It started off about 2 feet away but has grown a foot around in all directions and is now just 1st away from the trunk of the tree.  The grass is fine but the apple is not.  I did water that when I noticed it starting to lose its leaves but the grass just keeps on growing - it's actually looking glorious at the moment - but the apples left on the tree - it shed loads - are too small.  So the grass is going to have to go and I'll prune the apple to give it a chance for next year.
Gardening in East Suffolk on dry sandy soil.

My gunnera are attempting world domination, I'd be frightened to feed them.
    Devon.
  • Looks like you’re in for a tough job soon then @didyw!  I have a dwarf pampas grass that’s getting a bit big for its location but I know that’ll take some effort so I’ve left it on my maybe next year list!
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.
