All so different!
My thoughts were to keep it unprocessed looking, to bring out the light and the colours, and the accentuate those by cropping to the sharpest part
The alternative is a diagonal which to my mind emphasises the lines of the bracken and the lines of the cobwebs more

Ah, a diagonal version just with iPad tweaking was my second favourite, Liz for exactly the reasons you state! I went the other way and with cooler tones..

Perhaps if I'd messed about with it on my phone rather than my kindle, I'd have had more control - no idea.
