Plant selection

  • Miscanthus Indian summer! Looking forward to those colours.
I measured distances from the wall carefully, giving them the radius needed from the spread on the label.
I've been gardening for 2.5 years, and it's been a steep learning curve as I knew nothing. I'm afraid a lot of plants will have to move due to poor decisions early on :(

It looks like Miscanthus Malepartus @plant pauper.  The flowers start off as a deep burgundy colour, gradually fading to bleached wood - how inspiring is that?😊
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

Crocuses will be fine there, in amongst the other plants. I would go for lots of the same variety, or perhaps repeated clumps of two or three different ones if you want different colours. To me that always looks better than a random mixture.  The little packs that you can buy in the shops go nowhere - if you want lots for impact try a wholesale supplier. I've had success with bulbs from the wholesale side of J Parkers (https://www.dutchbulbs.co.uk/) and Eurobulbs (https://eurobulbs.co.uk).

Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
