Woodpile

I have had a woodpile in my garden for a number of years in a very secluded spot. It is now almost covered in Ivy. Would this be beneficial or should I remove it?

The ivy is a good thing … it’ll help keep the pile cool and moist and provide cover for the small creatures using it.

If the ivy reaches the arboreal stage and produces flowers and fruit it’ll provide insects with nectar at a time of year when it’s otherwise scarce, plus berries for birds and small mammals in the winter. Ivy is a marvellous wildlife resource in many many ways.
