Identify This Grass
in Plants
I have a property we're working on sporadically, as weather permits. We cut back a lot of overgrowth about 2 months ago, and this grass, which was not there before, popped up and has taken over along the side fence in front and back. I can't find anything that matches 100%. I've looked at everything from witchgrass, switchgrass, all kinds of ornamental grasses, but nothing matches. It's over 6 feet tall at this point and hasn't flowered yet. The hairs on the sheaths are pokey (they hurt lol) but the leaf blades are smooth. It's currently growing in both very rocky soil in the front and in regular soil in the back. the clumps are very easy to pull out of the ground. I just want to know what it is and if I should get rid of it completely or maybe transplant it. TIA
