as for those fashionable "subway" tiles, they always make me think of toilets
     Me too!

They're just as unappealing to me and for the exact same reason.

I don't suppose you need to recharge it anytime!

But you do need to buy a new one each year.

picking up a pile of horse shi*t when they’ve gone up the lane.  Don’t think they do that these days but still one of my favourites.

Spoken sentences that don't begin with "So ..." and where every 't' is pronounced properly.

@LittleGreyRabbit - fountain pens and inks are actually bang on trend at the moment, especially in Europe and the Far East. Japanese stationery stores are a real 'thing', especially amongst youngsters. Just Google fountain pens and inks and you'll find there's a whole new world of geeks reviewing and demonstrating thousands of different pens and inks on You Tube.

My (not-so) young hubby has a collection of about a dozen fountain pens and I have about half that number. We have a large collection of different inks - literally hundreds of different shades and qualities out there. Also have a stack of notebooks & have become very fussy about the quality of paper.

Love writing b/day cards, special notes etc using proper ink and a stub nib and taking time to form the letters carefully. Not really calligraphy but better than my everyday scrawl!

It is certainly a pleasure to write with a fountain pen. Especially once you've broken it in and worn the nib to your writing style. Not a thing to share.

I miss getting letters. Still great to get and send an email to a friend, but I do miss the excitement of an envelope arriving in the post. Mind you, I sent a birthday card to a friend in Spain, allowed a week to arrive, but it took six weeks! Any news and gossip in a letter would have been well out of date.
