Avocado Pruning

I have been growing this avocado for a couple of years as a house plant and it's spreading to much for it's allocated space and wish to prune the side shoots away to let a leading shoot develop for increased height.
Can I simply cut away ? any preferred time etc?

Hello there! It's great to hear that your avocado houseplant has been thriving, but I understand your concern about its size. You can indeed prune the side shoots to encourage a leading shoot for increased height. The best time to do this is typically in the early spring or late winter when the plant is in a semi-dormant state.
To prune, use clean and sharp pruning shears or scissors, and make clean cuts just above a leaf node or junction. This will encourage new growth in the direction you want. Remember to avoid pruning too much at once; gradual pruning is usually more successful.
After pruning, make sure to provide your avocado plant with adequate care, including proper watering and sunlight, to support its growth. Best of luck with your pruning, and I hope your avocado continues to thrive!
