Weeds in lawn

Sorry, I am a complete novice.  We have a lawn a few years ago and these have begun to appear.  Can someone identify it and tell me how to get rid of it please?  Thanks Chris

    looks like Self-heal. Prunella vulgaris. I rely on the non-grass in my 'lawn' to keep it green in summer

    Pulling them out by hand would be my first option. Then applying feed, new seed and fresh topsoil. If you can't pull them out by hand, then you could apply a selective weed killer but you'll need to wait a minimum of 6 weeks before overseeding after that.
