Hydrangea, which soil to keep current colour?

MeomyeMeomye Posts: 949
I have just purchased a 'Royalty Collection Hot Violet Hydrangea. The label states 'any soil type. I am aware blue and purple prefer acidic soil and as I have alkaline wondered if it will eventually turn pink?  I currently have pink/white in the ground and blue in pots but this is a sort of dark pinky red. So can I put it in the ground or do I need a pot to keep this lovely colour? tia

To keep the same colour, keep the same soil.

That's what I guessed.  Would you call "hot violet", pink or blue?
