Olive tree

I have an olive tree that has done rather well through the summer, and is, in fact, bearing some fruit. I want to protect it during the winter months. Any suggestions, should I covered in fleece thanks

  • I don't think you need to as olive trees survive very low temperatures in some hotter summer countries where they have cold winters (Italy). However if it is in a pot you may want to protect the roots in some way. I don't know much about the varieties, but reckon it's quite important. I've helped harvest olives in late October, but know some do so in the middle of winter. Do you intend to harvest and if so doing what with them?
Yorkshire, ex Italy and North East coast. Growing too old for it!
