  • Just a thought, but have you gates in the garden? My hogs make it under both our gates, and the gap is only half the height of a hog!
  • Just thought i'd add my little bit.
For me, i'd add a hole at ground level roughly 6" in diameter ever two metres along the whole length of any fencing, whether any neighbours liked it or not. Or stop the fencing 6" short of the ground along the entire length of the fence.
We have building control regs for buildings etc that cover so many things, including environmental regs to help save the environment.

We should also have conservation regs too by now to protect wildlife, such as mandatory holes in boundary structures between properties and much more.  Developers building multiple new builds perhaps should have one pond of significant size somewhere on-site per 10 houses.  Perhaps a number of british native trees per new build somewhere on-site.

For me though, planting trees is not enough, the developer should be actively seen to be looking after the trees for at least say 3yrs and replace as required if a tree dies or disappears.

We are also overdue to see conservation and environmental restrictions in property titles too.  Perhaps a property with a land mass of a size should mandatorily have a pond of a defined area and depth and a number of native trees per 1/4acre forever successors in title.  Perhaps trees of a species and age on a property should be specifically detailed within the properties title to make sure it doesn't disappear. If it does, the titleholder can't sell the house until it's replaced like for like.  If a 50yr old tree disappears, the titleholder can't sell until he has a 50yr old tree of the original species!!!!!!

    Sorry!!!!
  • Before you can buy or sell a house, perhaps it should become mandatory to have holes in boundary structures, a number of trees and a pond if a garden is of a size or larger!!
