Rust on Angelica Archangelica

Bought three plants about a month ago. All were pot bound but supplier, Barnsdale, said no problem just plant them. I accepted his advice in one case and removed the knot and loosened roots in the others. All except his have grown well!

But on looklng the other day they are all now suffering badly from what looks like rust . No plants nearby are affected. Now its autumn what should I do? I have a spray but is there any point in sprayng or should I just remove the leaves but will that damage the plant for next years growth  ?

I wouldn't do anything, they will almost certainly lose their leaves over winter and grow anew next year, when they should flower, set seed and die. Sometimes, however, I find they don't flower till their third year.
