Asparagus & Forget-me-Not to reduce Sorrel infestation?

I haven't been able to keep my Asparagus bed weed free. It is now infested with Creeping Wood Sorrel / Oxalis Corniculata (which I hate but had come to accept in this bed only). This year after an absence of a couple of months I weeded again. I noticed where the Forget-Me-Not was most dense it seemed to shade out the Sorrel / Oxalis so it wasn't as matted. I'm now wondering about purposefully sowing Forget-Me-Not as a companion plant as its easy to weed out without damaging the aspargus roots. Wondering if anyone has any opinion or feedback on this?

By accident I done just that.
I had a few forget-me-nots appear in my garden one year and liked them. When they finished I put them in the compost bin.
That autumn I spread the compost and the following year-

The seeds in the compost had germinated!
It's a nightmare pulling them all out when they're over and covered in mildew, but they do look great for a while.
AND I find very few weeds growing in those beds for the reason you gave - they smother most of the other weeds, of which I have many.
The only downside is that once the FMNs are gone - all the weeds appear... and due to the amount of seedlings produced by FMNs I'm pulling them out throughout the summer too.
