@GardenerSuze My garden is my sanctuary, my private space. It's beautiful and it's kept me going through lockdowns, covid and many dark times recently. I don't even like it being 'invaded' by the grass guy but his visit saves me doing one less heavy job. He does a reasonable job for a fairly reasonable fee, so I'm grateful for that. As you say some people struggle find even that.
I don't have an answer for you @BeekeeperElaine , but I do sympathise. I dread the day when I have to give up tasks like that. Me and my size 3 feet can get into and work in spaces that a big chap with size 11s couldn't manage without trampling on things. And I know where the treasures are and what's expendable (all the self-seeded stuff will be back no matter what).
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
I have just started employing a gardener as I've been poorly for a few months but can't say I'm enjoying the experience a lot. It's very hard to let somebody into your private space and let them get on with it and nobody does it quite like you would.
Still, needs must and until I regain my strength and mojo, at least she is keeping the garden tidy and the weeds in check. We agreed on a two month trial so it will be interesting to see whether I change my mind.
Well I seem to have touched a nerve here! We non of us really want to give up control of our gardens. It proves what a precious personal thing the creations of dedicated gardeners become. I do hope you recover speedily @Lizzie27

I am also tall which is more helpful when reaching tall plants.
