Peach trees in containers

I was recently gifted two peach tree saplings and was thinking of keeping them in containers for the first few years, possibly for longer.  Both are just leaders with no branches at this point, both about a foot and a half tall or more.  I hesitate because they're not dwarf varieties - does that matter?
