Wildflower Advice

Hi all . I have roadside banks at my property that I planted up with native wildflowers. They have just about finished flowering and I would like to know what is the best thing to do with them. Last year i just cut them down with a strimmer and left them but it looked a bit of a mess all winter. Will be grateful for any advice. Apologies if the photos are to big.

  • If they were mine I would leave them for now, because birds and small animals will eat the seeds and you will also get good seed coverage for next year. They will probably also look better for a while with their seed heads rather than without, but sometime in the new year you can strim or remove any remaining foliage to help the newly emerging seedlings. They must have looked fantastic!

What @Buttercupdays said although it might be necessary to strim those plants nearest the road once they have shed their seeds lest they droop limply and damply over the carriageway.
