Trees, Ficus religiosa

I'm looking for a UK Palm house that contains a Bodhi tree. I know Kew has a beautiful tree but I was hoping there might be one in the north west or Wales?

Ficus religiosa or sacred fig is a species of fig native to the Indian subcontinent[2] and Indochina[3] that belongs to Moraceae, the fig or mulberry family. It is also known as the bodhi tree,[4] pimple treepeepul tree,[2] peepal treepipala treeashvattha tree (in India and Nepal), or Asathu (ඇසතු) in Sinhala.[5] The sacred fig is considered to have a religious significance in three major religions that originated on the Indian subcontinent, HinduismBuddhism and Jainism. Hindu and Jain ascetics consider the species to be sacred and often meditate under it

  • Perhaps the best idea would be to obtain a list of UK Botanical Gardens and enquire if they grow/exhibit this variety of Ficus.

I believe there is a Botanical Garden in South Wales - started about 20 plus years ago.  Maybe @wild edges would know about it ?

Good luck with your quest  :)
