Capsicum Chinense Pot Black Chillis

This this I planted in pots these Pot Black Chillis, they have grown well in the polytunnel , but, they are producing beautiful fruits as per normal Pot Black , but?, they seem to be growing at around 45mm (2") long, black AND WITH these strange "petal like stems " forming around the base of the fruit ?
Looks beautiful , but I have not seen anything like this on any picture pages ? ..is this some form of hybrid ?

    How strangely beautiful.
I had a rogue seed in a packet of Scotch Bonnet - it turned out to be Bishops Hat which had a similar shape, but not as dramatic as yours.

  • Pete,
The wonders of gardening ! ha ha

Thing is they are really pretty looking and the actual bush with its small purple flower heads is a beautiful display plant.
Will certainly be keeping these seeds and also over wintering the plant for next year production.

Wonder if "Monty" will class it as a hybrid and I can get to name it !!! ha ha ha.

Its actaully what I liked doing previously, ie, growing tomatoes in the same Poly tunnel to see if I could create cross over variants ..Chilli Black Tomatoes ( could have a new pop group name here ! )

Good luck with it and hope you get more of the same next year.
You could name it chilliwilly :)
