thanks B3. earlier in the year i had some fruit flies in the kitchen. i managed to get rid of them by not leaving a scrap of anything they could call food out where they could get to it. but now they seem to have moved into the living room, where most of my plants are. they don't seem interested in anything except the spider plants. and they're not interested in the cuttings in jars in the window. and one of them, that i repotted, is losing its leaves. i wonder if i could cut it off just above the green growth, and put it into water to grow roots, as most of the other cuttings i took are doing well.
and even if this works, how on earth do i get rid of the fruit flies?

Yes, you can easily root this plant in water. Precisely watering too much and water not coming out of the bottom of the pot can be the main reason mosquitoes like moist soil. Be sure to spray to get rid of mosquitoes.

thanks very much Dovefromabove. i'm glad they don't seem to be a problem, though they may be for seedlings.
