Cordyline slowly dieing? 😣

Hi i got this lovely Cordyline plant from a private seller on Facebook. The photo at the bottom was how it looked like and the photos at thd top 2 weeks later.

It's been put in a 44cm pot and I have used
Jonsons innes 3 soil + perlite. I did untangle the roots when planted as the plant was pot bound. There is 6 holes at the bottom and is slightly raised off the decking.

It wasn't In the best condition when i got it but as you can see from the photos it's dieing. I don't water it everyday but check the soil regularly and also use a soil checker to make sure it's not too wet or too dry.

It's south facing and gets the sun mostly all day when hot.

Any help much appreciated.

Well ... they do naturally shed their outer leaves, but on your specimen, the inner ones don't look all that healthy, which is more of a worry.  I would give it time and see what happens.  A lot of the leaves may go brown and crispy, but if healthy new growth appears in the centre, it may be OK, if a bit sparse for a while till it bulks up.

They do tend to look a bit tatty when it comes to the outer leaves as @ViewAhead says.
Personally l would give it time to settle into its new surroundings and don't be tempted to overwater it.
You are doing the right things  :)

Depending on whereabouts you are in the country, you might want to move it to a more sheltered location in late Autumn to give it some protection from the cold and wet. Wet is the main problem, so somewhere near the house wall might be worth a try.
