My poorly plum tree

My plum tree was healthy a week ago and now looks like this. Planted about 2 years ok. Can’t find anything conclusive online. Anyone have any thoughts? Thank you

Can you recall when it was pruned?
Yorkshire, ex Italy and North East coast. Growing too old for it!

It’s quite close to the wall is it getting enough water?

It’s been fine for the last 18 months and watering habits haven’t changed
  • A wild guess here,..how long have the strawberries been there? My strawberries suffer badly with vine weevils. Could you have vine weevils eating the roots of your tree?

Perhaps @Emptyheadtime has a good guess there. Is it possible to dig a very little hole to carefully look at the roots. The upper damage looks pretty dire to me.
