Tree ID....

Evening all,

Whilst walking the dog I happened upon an oak tree with a very weird looking fruit type bud thingy...I'm guessing it may not be an oak but sure looked like one. Can anyone give me the definitive?

Cheers Pete, much appreciated. An expert was telling me it wasn't an oak!

But you did!  Just on a gardening forum instead of google.

Glad you did too @DAN WILSON as I've never heard of an artichoke gall on an oak, or anywhere else.

Nope, me neither. I got hold of some Holm Oak and am turning some bowls from it,  and I thought it might be a another strange type of Oak. Holm Oak is so tough, it's like tagliatelle made of steel!
