💡 If it’s been kept wrapped for a couple of days during transit the lack of fresh airflow may well have encouraged the fungal spots to worsen in appearance.

I think it’ll be ok … prepare the site and plant it well to give it every chance of achieving its optimum and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞

Let us know how it is when it leads up in the spring 😊

I'd plant it too. It won't necessarily be a problem. At this time of year, many trees are already showing signs of autumn anyway, depending on where you are, and a young tree will also shut down sooner, and be more prone to problems. The time spent during the delivery process will definitely not have helped.
What size is it? That also has a bearing.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Hi Sarah,

I’d go ahead and plant the silver birch and see how it gets on!

This is two of my silver birch trees that are over 15 years old at the moment and its leaves look very similar! Its just autumnal change

@sarahjvickers I looked at my young(ish) silver birch earlier and if I received it through the post I too would wonder! A lot of the leaves look exactly like yours and it's simply the start of Autumn. Boo Hiss!
