Actinidia Kolomikta brown and losing leaves
I bought 2 lovely
health plants in May this year. Planted them south facing wall with some dappled shade from an apple tree planting in the grass in front. At first they did really well, grew new leaves and even had some pink and white colouration. After a few weeks, they started going downhill. We have heavy clay soil and I watered semi-regularly but we had lots of rain in July and August and I didn’t want to over-water them. I’ve tried moving one to a better quality east facing bed but I’m worried about how much to water them etc. Any ideas what’s caused them to decline would be very welcome! I realise it could be a combination of all the above, so advise on next steps please!

I suspect that you didn't adequately prepare the planting hole.
Mini kiwis prefer a moisture retentive soil with very good drainage so you must line the bottom of the hole with 3-4 inches of sharp sand and/or grit. Deep water once or twice a week.
The plant should look healthy with a good crop of leaves but very little increase in size if done right. It will stay that way for about a year until the roots become established.
