Tired cosmos

B3B3 Posts: 27,505
Some of my very early cosmos, which I've kept dead-headed, are looking tired and stalky. Are they at the end of their life or would a hard prune do any good?
In London. Keen but lazy.

They do run out of steam eventually. I just pull them out when they get to that stage.
I may be wrong, but l think if you cut hard back they wouldn't start flowering again before the weather started to turn.
I suppose a lot depends on the type of Autumn weather we get.
