Chilli plants no flowers

Only one of my chilli plants using free seeds has produced a flower & only one chilli! Watering, in green house so well heated. Is there anything I should be doing to encourage flowering?

Maybe sow them earlier - mine are producing well now.
I sow them around mid to late Feb in a heated propagator in my unheated greenhouse, but a warm windowsill should suffice to germinate them, then keep them in as much sun as possible, but don't leave on a windowsill overnight as they'd get a chill and sulk.

Did it produce lots of flowers that then dropped?
If so, thats down to lack of pollination

I did plant seeds at the end of feb & kept in heated propagator & very warm in greenhouse for most of the time. Still hoping!

You could try a tomato feed to see if that encourages them to flower.

Do you know the variety and what size pot are they in?  From what I've read they can vary an awful lot on how long it takes to produce. They like free draining medium and the pot dictates their growth, that may be a factor?

Hungarian Hot Wax from this year’s Feb free seeds & the ones from last year hot ones De Cayenne I think. Have them now in in 7” pots. I’ll post some pics tomorrow.
  • the post are to small.

My usual chili - Jalapeno is doing well as is Basket of Fire.
However my 2 Hungarian Yellow Wax have only 4 chillies between them whereas they are usually quite prolific. I'm putting it down to the unusually cold weather this year.

I think a 7” pot is too small for those … I’d pot them up a couple of sizes with some good potting compost.

Hi Katemac, I'm growing those two varieties from the free seeds this year too. Do you 'top' your chilli plants? I started doing that a couple of years ago after seeing The Mother Cooker on instagram do it and it's made a huge difference. If you haven't done it its probably too late now but I would definitely recommend trying it next year.
