What to plant between neighbouring hedge and garden path
in Plants
Hi there! Looking for suggestions of what to plant down the left side of our front garden path. Plan is to remove the grass here and plant something all the way down. There is a neighbouring hedge so we want something that's going to cover it eventually as we're not keen on it. This area gets full sun most of the day. Total beginners so something hardy! Only thought I have had so far is conifers. But not sure. Thank you in advance! 😊

Conifers would fit the brief, but to be honest they're not much use for attracting wildlife, and could very well take over.
I did think of something like pyracantha (evergreen and berries in the Autumn/Winter), but running alongside the path might prove tricky as they are quite prickly. It would bd possible though if you kept them trimmed back.
Hopefully someone else will have better ideas than me !
Remember that your neighbours hedge will grow much wider.
At the moment the Escallonia is immaculate.
How will you be able to get in to trim it with plants in front.
Maybe safer to have something low growing.
Untrimmed they should both be covered in masses of flowers.
Trimmed ...all you get is leaves which is rather a pity.
