    As suggested above, switch to a good quality No Mess mix and you'll reduce your problem considerably, without the need for weedkillers or burners.  Pigeons have solved my problem - I no longer feed the birds because of them!! (There's lots of berries, seeds and worms around so I don't feel guilty but I'll start again over winter.)

    I've never seen a "no mess" mix on sale here and can't remember when I last saw peanuts available.  At least 5 years.

    I still feed all year round tho as that means I have o problems with peskies eating my treasures - except when OH doesn't spot a hole in the butterfly netting and one gets at the brassicas.  I don't like extra protein in my broccoli!

    I had that trouble ,then I discovered those pretty paving slabs with pictures on ,you know the ones ,about 7” square with bees and hedgehogs and butterflies on . I just got several of those ,placed round the feeder and any detritus fall on the slabs and can be swept off .Still get the odd one or two but just pull those up .
