Euphorbia Cuttings

pitter-patterpitter-patter Posts: 2,429
Hello. I’ve got this beautiful euphorbia ‘Miner’s Merlot’ and I would like to take some cuttings. I’ve tried some in the usual way, but they just rotted. Has anyone been successful with this and what method did they use?

I've manged to root one cutting off Silver swan  , think I let the wound callas over and put it into some gritty compost and stuck it in the propagator turned off

Thank you, @Perki. Do you remember what season it was? I wonder if it’s easier to root basal cuttings in the spring…

Took a 6" E mellifera cutting in April/May, stripped the lower leaves, & put it in water for a while, which became cloudy from the sap. Then inserted into a gritty mix and placed behind a large container in a shady spot, where it would pick up a bit of incidental watering, but other than that I just tried to forget about it. It took aaaaages to show signs of rooting.

Summer cutting off flowered stems so not the best material, and like Loxley took ages to doing anything this spring when it showed signs of growth

Thank you both. It seems like it might be trickier than I thought. Maybe division in spring might be easier.

Thank you, @Zoe P2. I did follow all those steps, but still no luck.

That must be disappointing, pitter-patter, but don't get disheartened; persevere and, I'm rather sure, you'll get there.
