Silene armeria

My sad meadow is not as sad as last year, but definitely getting there!  One of the flowers from the mix of annual seeds I used is Catchfly plant, Silene armeria.  Does anyone have experience with this?  It's the one seed that germinated like crazy, and there's a beautiful undercarpet of pink in the "meadow".  I plan to order a custom mix for next year, and if this particular plant is a rampant self-seeder, I'll keep it out of the mix.

I find it's a rampant self seeder into any pots I have around but less so into soil. But your soil conditions may encourage it more than mine do. Most annuals seed like mad if they're in a good place

  • I'm hoping it does seed, it's very pretty! It's in an area that gets full sun, and it's planted into plain topsoil.  Plus we get good and cold here, usually with a decent snow cover, so hopefully it wants that period of dormancy and cold.

It seems to seed its self around with no problem for me too. In fact I’m beginning to get fed up with it as I only have a tiny garden.
