Help with tree ID

in Plants
Hi, I’ve been nurturing a sapling thinking the birds has gifted me a rowan tree. But my Mum thinks it’s more like an ash. I’ve googled and can’t find anything definitive to identify the tree. I’d be grateful if anyone can tell the difference. Thanks

Someone will be along with a less vague, more definite ID.
I've got two courtesy of the birds, but both those trees are so common round here, so it's not surprising. One isn't the common one either, but has nice white berries, so it's a vilmorinii or a cashmiriana or similar.
The ash trees have smoother edges to the foliage, but it can sometimes be tricky to decide which is which when they're small. Ash has quite smooth wood on the main trunk too, and that's also easier to make an ID when plants get bigger. Rowans are much more gnarly - as in your pic.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
